Leadership Consulting

As a leadership consultant, I design and facilitate customised leadership development programmes and conduct one to one executive coaching to help leaders of organisations, large and small, to develop competence and confidence to become a truly effective leader. I do not produce 'off the shelf' programmes, preferring instead to design customised programmes to fit the exact needs of my clients.

What is leadership?

This is not such a silly question as there are multiple definitions and multiple types of leadership. However, a simple definition was suggested by Peter Northouse in Leadership Theory and Practice. He said, “Leadership is a process whereby an individual influences a group of individuals to achieve a common goal. Leadership involves influence; it is concerned with how the leader impact their followers. Influence is the sine qua non of leadership. Without influence, leadership does not exist.” To simplify this further, there are no leaders without followers – the question then becomes, do your people follow you because they want to or because they have to. If it is the latter then your people will never realise their true potential neither will your organisation..
